Summary Description:

The Manager, Production Planning and Scheduling will lead a group of production planners to ensure that product is available to meet customer demand. This role will analyze future demand and it’s impact on resource utilization, inventory projections and labor needs, playing a key role in the S&OP process, working closely with buying, sourcing, manufacturing and inventory teams, touching all aspects of the supply chain team.

What will your day look like?

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Production Planners
  • Assign tasks, set priorities and provide guidance to team members
  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional growth opportunities for team
  • Develop Master Schedule
    • Understand capacity limitations and incorporate into the Planning Process.
      • Plans/recommends changes in capacity to hit target levels
    • Create a rolling 12-month Production Plan that supports inventory requirements for each SKU.
    • Publish the Production Plan.
      • Analyze and report production hours through work centers
      • Identify future inventory trends
      • Collaborate with production teams to identify ways to maximize efficiency
    • Lead the monthly Production Meeting to identify Demand/Supply gaps and devise solutions.
    • Drive adherence to the Plan in Operations
    • Resolve Supply, Demand, and Capacity issues while optimizing both labor and equipment utilization.
      • Identify future capacity bottlenecks and problem solve for resolutions
    • Support long capacity analysis and identify constraints and future capital needs
  • Facilitate Supply Capacity S&OP Meeting
    • Conduct a monthly Supply Capacity review of the S&OP Plan. (Internal and External suppliers)
    • Develop (and update monthly) the documents needed for review at the Executive S&OP Meeting.
    • Include final inventory, production plan, and issue review.
  • Identify inventory constraints and communicate across the Org any potential customer service issues weekly due to material availability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the production planning department, driving continuous improvement.
  • Engage in capacity management during sales and operations planning and forecasting to support labor and budgeting needs
  • Collaborate with project managers, buyers, stakeholders, and other team members to understand project requirements and objectives
    • Work closely with production planners to ensure future events (off shelf) / special projects are produced in timely manner
  • Leads initiatives that drive the team to fully leverage planning tools, driving effi
