Sr. Mechanical Designer

When you join Design Group as a Sr. Mechanical Designer, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
- Design facility mechanical systems including water, chilled water, wastewater, HVAC, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam or hot water, compressed air, and plumbing for custom industrial applications for manufacturing, distribution, and other industrial and commercial facilities
- Work with licensed engineers and experienced designers on multi-discipline project teams
- Create mechanical designs utilizing AutoCAD MEP
- Handle equipment sizing, hydronic piping system design, and selection of mechanical equipment in collaboration with vendors
- Develop specifications and inspect installations
- Interface with on-site project teams
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 10 years of mechanical facilities design engineering experience including mechanical system analysis, sizing, design, and report writing experience
- Experience executing projects for industrial building design with a focus on the highest level of quality, cost effectiveness, and safety
- Experience in the design of advanced technologies (semi-conductor) or life sciences facility/building mechanical systems including HVAC (air handling units, chemical and laminar fume hoods, unit heaters/coolers), water, chilled water, wastewater, cold/warm rooms, clean rooms, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam/condensate, hot water and hydronic, compressed gases (air, O2, N2, CO2), waste/drain and plumbing
- Experience in refrigeration system design (preferred)
- The ability to successfully interact with our team members and clients
- Solid computer skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Revit experience preferred
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
- A Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a technical Associates degree. Commensurate applicable industry experience can be considered in lieu of a BS or Associates degree
