About the role

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hourly Recruiting: Lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly positions through Workday, managing internal and external job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and coordination with hiring managers. Oversee the onboarding process while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
  • Orientation & Onboarding: Develop and deliver engaging orientation programs to ensure a seamless and positive onboarding experience for employees.
  • Benefits Administration: Act as main contact for benefits inquiries, supporting employees with enrollment, changes, and claims. Coordinate open enrollment periods. Communicate with physicians, insurers and employees on claims and administration. 
  • Employee Engagement: Develop, coordinate, and support employee engagement programs and initiatives to foster a positive work environment and increase retention. Establish positive employee relations, trust and credibility.   Maintain approachability while balancing business and employee needs; regularly engage directly with employees to provide support and build strong relationships.
  • Assist in monthly Key Measurable Indicator Reports, the Group KPI and the Divisional Scorecard.
  • Work closely with teams on the manufacturing floor to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Training & Development: Assess training needs, coordinate logistics, and deliver or support internal training programs and employee development initiatives.
  • Coordinate Apprentice, Co-operative Education and Summer Student Programs.
  • Effectively manage and maintain time and attendance system, personal time request, leaves of absences, and assists with worker’s compensation, FMLA, and STD.
  • Monitor documentation and approval process for direct labor wage structure under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager.
  • Assist with employee uniforms and reconciliations.
  •  Serve as the representative for unemployment matters, ensuring timely and accurate correspondence with the Department of Workforce Development in accordance with required deadlines. Implement, execute, and monitor annual and probationary associate appraisal and performance evaluation programs.HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies. Maintain accurate employee records.
  • Satisfactorily perform the duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned or determined by the HR Manager of the Employer or his/her nominee(s).

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

He/she is expected to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all functional groups within the organization. He/she is expected to work diligently and efficiently, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail, demonstrating excellent organizational skills. The individual must have experience with and be able to appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times. An in-depth knowledge of legal requirements to ensure regulatory compliance is required.

 The individual must possess advanced computer proficiency, including extensive experience and training with Microsoft Office programs as well as Human Resources Information Systems. He/she must be able to perform multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities with frequent interruption.  Must be results- and people/service-oriented, demonstrating sound judgment and the ability to balance business priorities effectively. Must maintain a high energy level and a high concern for people.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION

3+ years of HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field. HR certification a plus. Experience with HRIS systems; Workday preferred.  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents and statues from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure and policy manuals and contracts or agreements.  Ability to write instructions, operating procedures and routine reports and correspondence.  Her/she must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, government and regulatory agencies and employees of the organization.
