Purpose
This position supports the Disability and Access department in their work to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to their academic experiences at the University of Texas at Austin by determining eligibility and approving reasonable accommodations.
Responsibilities
Manage the administrative operations of a complex unit composed of 19 full-time staff, multiple student associates, office assistants, student interns, and graduate student staff. Provide administrative support including calendar scheduling, emailing D&A students, and managing data entry of student records into the Clockwork database. Provide administrative support for various D&A accommodation processes.
With initiative and independent decision-making provide information to students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding services provided to students with disabilities, triaging calls and drop-in traffic as appropriate. Maintain records, schedule appointments, create student files, file student documents. Receive and review confidential student information and disability documentation with sensitivity and discretion and direct as appropriate. Function as a member of D&A, assist with general functions of the office and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three years of clerical experience, including one year of experience at either the Administrative Assistant or the Administrative Associate level, or high school graduation or GED, and seven years of clerical experience. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student academic/disability information. Regular and punctual attendance. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with various community members and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. At least two years of experience with clerical functions. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Exceptional organization skills and the ability to multi-task. Demonstrated customer service interest and skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and in a fast-paced work environment. Professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working on the UT campus, familiarity with UT policies and procedures. Experience working with students. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a medical or mental health setting.
Hourly Rate
$25.00 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Attire: Business Casual
Standard Office Environment, Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Work Shift
Hours per week - 40
Regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, onsite.
