Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The Production Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of production control and material management throughout the Elgin facility.  This role will encompass the following:

 

  • Leads all activities related to production planning, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and inventory control for the Elgin, IL facility.
  • Directs the receipt, storage, and movement of all material goods for the business.
  • Reviews customer orders and coordinates with the production team to establish effective schedules and ensure appropriate personnel and materials are available to meet demands.
  • Verifies the daily production schedule aligns with customer demands and provides direction to ensure appropriate jobs are being run on machines.
  • Orders and coordinates the delivery of incoming material with suppliers to ensure requirements are met, while managing inventory levels and addressing shortage, or overstock situations.
  • Analyzes historical customer orders and external factors to appropriately forecast production materials required. 
  • Manages team members by leading hiring and training efforts, providing ongoing feedback and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Communicates with various functional teams within the facility, as well as at the warehouse to provide up to date information and resolve production processing issues.
  • Compile production information, inventory levels, and various production-related data to develop reports and analysis for managers and business leaders.
  • Analyze metrics to identify data trends and make strategic recommendations for continuous improvement of inventory control and production planning.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed for maintaining the inventory control system.
  • Coordination of all tasks to move material in a timely fashion.
  • Become an expert in the ITW Toolbox and proficient at conducting continuous improvement activities to improve the overall production process flow.
  • Makes recommendations for process and efficiency improvements within production.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or related field, or combination of business experience and education
  • Prior leadership and supervisory experience required; strong people leadership skills and excellent at driving accountability and results
  • 5+ years of experience working in a lean manufacturing operation with proficient understanding of production planning
  • Automotive experience strongly preferred
  • Computer Proficiency: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Continuous Improvement mindset and excellent understanding of business dynamics
  • Analytical skills with demonstrated experience leveraging the ITW toolbox and other data analysis tools to understand data, anticipate future trends and make sound business recommendations; experience with Qlik Sense preferred
  • Ability to utilize data strategically to problem solve and make recommendations to plant leadership to premium freight costs and decrease production backlog
  • Ability to adjust production schedules quickly and effectively, depending on business conditions or personnel changes, to ensure production deadlines are consistently met
  • Personally driven and motivates others to succeed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and make critical business decisions based on metrics
