Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Application Engineer to support the technical sales strategy and lead the technical evaluation of conventional nuclear controls upgrade opportunities, contributing to growth of orders and opportunity pipeline for nuclear controls in GE Vernova’s Software & Control Solutions business. This role is responsible for the detailed technical review of customer specifications, requests for proposals, and supporting the definition of standardized offerings for nuclear controls upgrades for non-safety related applications in steam turbine, balance of plant, and generator controls.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support pre-sales technical discussions with customers for strategic deal development; providing technical insight on GEV products and services for nuclear controls, collecting voice of customer, responding to technical inquiries on GEV submitted proposals, conducting site surveys of existing systems, presenting case studies/demos/product solutions at industry user conferences, and providing feedback to the business’s commercial and product management organizations on control solutions that meet the customer needs in the nuclear market.
- Actively listen, understand, and interpret customers’ business goals, operating objectives, and control system risks, and customize GE Vernova SCS solutions to best meet their needs.
- Research and understand competitors’ regional value propositions and go to market approaches and support development of winning sales and solutions strategies.
- Become regional reference point for technical queries regarding the Nuclear Industry for the Controls product line, establishing relationships with key customers.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary application teams to respond to customer technical specifications for conventional nuclear, non-safety related, controls upgrades including; steam turbine controls, balance of plant controls (such as feed water level controls), generator excitation controls, HMI/network/cyber security, mechanical instrumentation, and controls lifecycle applications.
- Coordinate with Controls Engineering Technical Leaders and Product Design Owners to develop clear, compliant, and competitive technical responses to customer inquiries. Defining engineering effort and material requirements to achieve customer expectations and nuclear industry standards for quality, aligned with our engineering, manufacturing, and product capabilities.
- Own the Technical Application Guide definition for nuclear controls applications; creating and maintaining Technical Application Guides (TAGs) which define standards for engineering design effort, material/hardware definition, technical proposal language for standard products, and overall technical quoting limits.
- Support the commercialization of new product designs for nuclear controls applications, creating or revising TAGs to support the quotation of new products/applications.
- Support continuous improvement of Technical Application Guides by engaging in project reviews with commercial, project management, engineering, and field service teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
