Dietary Director

The Dietary Director is responsible for overseeing the entire Dietary Department, ensuring the delivery of quality nutrition services to patients, staff, and guests. This role includes managing staff, meal planning, procurement, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates all activities and employees to ensure quality food service.
- Provides supervision and training to the nutrition service personnel.
- Monitors the daily activities of the department personnel.
- Scheduled the nutritional service staff according to the workload.
- Ensures that appropriate sanitation and safety practices are being adhered to by staff.
- Interviews and hires appropriate staff.
- Counseled and evaluates nutrition server staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Encourages continuity, teamwork, and quality service.
- Tracks meal count statistics to develop into a monthly budget report.
- Participates in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
- Upholds the Organizations ethics and customer service standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must maintain focus on tasks despite distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic. Must consistently meet deadlines and complete all food preparation within designated serving times. Flexibility in work hours is required to accommodate patient and organizational needs.
- Ability to remain composed and professional in challenging or hostile customer service interactions.
- Proficiency in adjusting recipes to achieve desired outcomes. Must be able to read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products, as well as convert and modify mathematical measurements for recipe adjustments.
- Capacity to work independently in a physically restricted environment for extended periods.
Requirements
Education:
Minimum: High School Degree
Preferred: Bachelors in nutrition health sciences
License:
Food Protection Manager Certificate from Serve Safe or other training accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute)
Certification:
Required: Valid Food Handlers Certificate
Work Experience:
Required: Five (5) years' experience in all phases of food service required
Preferred: Two (2) years' experience in management. Prior experience in hospital food service.

Other: Must be at least 21 years of age.
Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical, and be able to provide positive employment references.
Physical Demands: Must be able to move about the facility, remain standing for extended periods, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
