About the role

Position Summary

The Sr. DIR II of Mobile Supply Chain and Supply Chain Strategy is responsible for managing multiple Operations and Planning Departments, across mobile product categories on behalf of the Samsung Electronics America (SEA) Subsidiary. With a focus on Business Operations, the role will define supply chain strategy and objectives, and engage customers (internal and external).

This SCM executive leader will communicate opportunities and build consensus, as well as drive operational programs focused on innovation and growth. In this role, you will work closely with respective business unit General Managers (GMs), leadership across SEA (providing regular C-level executive briefs and reports), with headquarters in Suwon, South Korea, and with the central SCM team. In this position you will ensure systems, processes are developed and service levels are defined and met with the respective business units.

Role and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and vision to the integrated supply chain function, understanding and utilizing people and technology to elevate overall operational performance
  • Sponsor approaches that encourage efficiency; from developing and/or enhancing processes to implementing systems with the goal of driving synergies and building efficiencies
  • Define and execute supply chain projects and initiatives
  • Recruit, train, mentor and develop an engaged and world-class supply chain organization
  • Act as a central SCM function, providing an educated and unbiased view of a balanced demand and supply
  • Lead and manage demand planning and sales & operations planning (S&OP) with HQ
  • Provide early warning and mitigation strategies on behalf of the Samsung Subsidiary, working cross-functionally, internally to communicate risks and coordinate mitigation strategies
  • Provide leadership insights and a strong sense of partnership to the executive leadership team
  • Lead regular C-Level executive reporting and strategy sessions
  • Manage Samsung’s weekly Supply Chain Planning, facilitating session to gain consensus and ensure accountability across all mobile accounts and categories
  • Lead and develop members of the Supply Chain team as well as securing cross functional resources for large scale improvement programs
  • Participate in any decisions to install an end to end SCM planning and execution system or other new technologies (AI, BlockChain, automated deliveries, autonomous CPFR)
  • Representing Samsung as an executive leader at industry venues and events
  • Convince customers to operate with more transparency, openly sharing sensitive data and purchase supply to avoid stockouts
  • Convince Carrier account teams to plan well in advance in order to secure supply
  • Provide guidance to solve complex internal and customer supply chain problems
  • Work Cross-Functionally with adjacent supply chain functions (other categories, other subsidiaries, logistics, packaging etc.)

Skills and Qualifications

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, or similar; MBA a Plus
  • 15+ years’ work experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning & Forecasting, Inventory Management, Business Planning, and Operations (S&OP) utilizing related tools and systems
  • 10+ years People Management experience including executive experience leading managers across multiple departments and functions
  • Experience navigating large, Fortune 500 matrix organizations; Global work experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to make decisions, to give direction, and to measure individual/team performance.
