Southeastern Virginia Training Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse II to join our team and support the health and well-being of the individuals we serve.

At Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) we serve citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are an intermediate care facility operated by the Department of Behavioral health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) where we support individuals in state-of-the-art homes with accommodations unique to their specific needs. Job Duties

The Registered Nurse II provides direct nursing care to individuals residing at SEVTC. This role includes assessing health conditions, administering treatments, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and ensuring the highest level of support to meet individuals’ unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatments.
  • Monitor individuals’ health conditions and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate and support individuals, families, and staff regarding health conditions and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in training staff on healthcare-related procedures and best practices.

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.

All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s Pre-service training program. Preservice training class is 10 days long 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Shift Hours:

  • Monday- Friday and alternating weekends: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

 Skills and experience required:

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in their lives We also seek the following:

  • Requires a valid Virginia Nursing license or a license in a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • RN degree or licensure required.
  • Current certification in CPR and first aid.
  • Valid active driver’s license required.

 

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with individuals with severe developmental disabilities preferred.
