JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Global is an area of opportunity for those seeking a career in the field of international education.  Pre-Arrival Advising, a unit of International Student and Scholar Advising (ISSA), is hiring part-time staff to assist with initial document production for incoming international students. Requirements for this position include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications;
  • Adherence to confidentiality of student documents;
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Ability to convey clear information to diverse and international populations.
  • Preferred experience includes knowledge of immigration regulations, LionPATH/PeopleSoft, Sunapsis, or other database management skills.

Duties include:

  • Review and adjudication of I-20 requests for initial document production;
  • Communicating with stakeholders to advise on F-1/J-1 visas and prearrival to the University; Maintain and update SEVIS, a federal database, and the University student records database LionPATH (PeopleSoft); and ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­other duties as assigned. 

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
• PA State Police Criminal Background Check
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
• FBI Criminal Background Check

This position is to be filled for in-person duties at the Shirley Malcom Building located at Innovation Park on the University Park Campus.  This is a wage-payroll position requiring availability of 20 hours per week though August. U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency is required for Department of Homeland Security access to SEVIS as a Designated School Official (DSO).
