About the Department

It is a very exciting time at UC-CAPS! We have a culture focused on organized teamwork, work-life balance, and respect in all our relationships. We are a multidisciplinary team of dedicated culturally responsive mental health professionals serving the needs of our diverse student population. We provide both individual and group therapy, single-session consultation appointments, and outreach to our UC community.  Over the past year, UC-CAPS has expanded services within the embedded counselor model, increased access to students through innovation, and achieved APA accreditation for our psychology internship. Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Counseling and Psychological Services (UC-CAPS) is looking for (2) two culturally sensitive and informed individuals to apply to our Clinical Fellow position and join our energetic, multidisciplinary, culturally informed collaborative team of mental health professionals. The position is a temporary appointment, and lasts one year with the option of being extended into a second year. Our fellowship program provides an opportunity for individuals to integrate therapeutic skills and solidify their identity as mental health professionals. Fellows will be involved in all aspects of our services, including providing individual and group counseling, crisis response services, outreach, consulting with students, parents, faculty, and staff, and building relationships with campus partners. CAPS values its fellows, welcoming them as fully functioning members of our team who enrich our center with their strengths, knowledge, and experiences. A successful candidate will have strong general therapy skills, self-awareness and self-curiosity, interest and/or experience providing culturally informed services, as well as a clear commitment to supporting students from all dimensions of diversity and intersecting identities.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and conduct clinical duties and responsibilities required by professional mentor in accordance with all institutional and federal regulations.
  • At least 80% of time must be spent in direct clinical contact involving patient assessment, diagnosis, screening, treatment, report writing, family/client consultation, and/or counseling related to the management of the particular medical specialty.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in a related field.

Required Experience

Requires an in depth knowledge of a specialized field, process or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Graduate training occurred at an APA accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology, a CACREP accredited master’s program in clinical counseling, or a CSWE accredited master’s program in social work.  
  • Completion of a clinical internship or field placement providing counseling services to a young adult/ college-aged population.  
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills as well as a demonstrated openness to supervision and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
