The opportunity

Altruist is entering an exciting phase, and we're looking for a Security Master to join our Operations Team. In this role you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining accurate and comprehensive data related to financial instruments, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our trading and back-office operations.

Your impact

  • Create and maintain a centralized security information database, including ticker symbols, ISIN codes, CUSIP numbers, and other relevant identifiers, across multiple asset classes, such as equities, fixed income, mutual funds, and additional instruments (structured products and alternatives), as our product offering expands.
  • Set up new financial instruments in the trading and back-office systems and validate/update existing instrument data.
  • Work closely with the corporate actions team, updating the security master database to reflect changes resulting from such actions.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and Quarterly pricing reviews/audits to ensure properly priced securities feed into our performance modeling, billing modules,  and front-end UI
  • Conduct a thorough daily review of exception reports related to security master data to identify and promptly address any discrepancies, anomalies, or data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to investigate and resolve exceptions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the security master database.
  • Implement proactive measures to prevent recurring exceptions and optimize data management processes.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to enhance data automation pipelines and exception-reporting logic.
  • Document and report findings from exception reviews, providing insights to enhance overall data quality and system performance.
  • Perform regular audits and validations to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across various systems and databases.
  • Work closely with other departments to integrate security master data into their systems and ensure seamless data flow.
  • Serve as a liaison between external vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot feed-level issues and maintain data quality standards.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to meet compliance standards.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to security data during trading or settlement processes.
  • Collaborate with data vendors to obtain and integrate external market data into the security master database.
  • Maintain documentation of security master processes and procedures.
  • Generate reports and analyses related to security data for internal and external stakeholders

What you bring

  • Experience - 3-5 years of experience working as a Security Master or similar role; at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization
    • Solid understanding of financial instruments, market data, and regulatory requirements
    • Proficiency in using security master systems and related techn
