We are seeking an experienced Principal, Senior Client Program Manager professional to lead complex software implementation programs for large clients in the Benefits and Pension Technology space. Reporting to the Head of PMO, Retirement & Benefit Solutions, this role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives in fast-paced, client-facing environments — overseeing SaaS, outsourcing, or COTS system delivery initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of large-scale Defined Benefit (DB) and Health & Welfare (H&W) software implementation projects.
- Oversee SaaS deployments, upgrades, and release management cycles for multi-client environments.
- Deliver projects that meet scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
- Act as the senior point of contact for clients, ensuring transparent communication and proactive risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Configuration, Data, Quality Assurance, Product, and Development to ensure seamless outcomes.
- Facilitate executive steering committees and governance forums with clear, data-driven reporting.
- Establish and maintain governance standards, escalation protocols, and structured project reviews.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; ensure accountability for issue resolution and scope control.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, client requirements, and regulatory frameworks such as SOC, GDPR, or equivalent.
- Contribute to PMO maturity by developing best practices, templates, and playbooks for repeatable, high-quality project delivery.
- Advocate for project management discipline, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all teams.
- Mentor project managers and coordinators, fostering leadership capability and operational excellence.
- Partner with leadership on proposal development, RFP responses, and client solutioning for new business opportunities.
- Drive innovation through lessons learned, data insights, and automation opportunities within project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science, or related discipline.
- 7–10 years of progressive experience managing complex software implementation projects within Benefits or Pension Administration Technology, SaaS, Outsourcing, or COTS environments.
- Experience delivering Benefits and Pension Administration Software Implementations preferred.
- PMP certification required; Agile/Scrum Master or PRINCE2 certification an asset.
- Strong command of project management tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, or Smartsheet.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and SaaS delivery models.
- Familiarity with integration across platforms, APIs, and data migration processes.
- Proven success managing multiple, concurrent projects with complex dependencies.
- Skilled in client relationship management, contract execution, and change control.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with executive-level stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and motivated to drive quality and results.
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent within North America, based on project needs.
