Job Description
Are you a passionate and experienced Civil Engineer who wants to contribute to challenging and interesting projects that provide direct value to our communities? Do you have expertise in the dam space and are looking to join a high performing team? With recurrent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our Denver AECOM Dams Team.
The Denver Dams Team is a center of technical excellence and often wins work purely on the strength of its people and its great reputation. By joining our team, you will get mentoring and guidance from our industry leading experts in the fields of geology, geotechnical, structural and dam design. You will get the opportunity to mentor technical staff and we support your involvement in the dams industry. You will also get the opportunity to work and collaborate with other dams leaders with our Oakland Dams Team.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Conceptual to detailed design of water dams, retarding basins, service basins
Perform as Capture Manager for pre-positioning and preparing proposals
Inspection, investigation and condition assessment of existing dams including review and surveillance of monitoring data.
Comprehensive Safety Reviews and FERC Part12D Inspections of existing Dams and Hydropower. This would require the leading of multidisciplinary teams to deliver all aspects.
Perform Alternatives Analyses, Feasibility Studies, and Detailed Designs with strong knowledge of design drawings and technical specifications.
Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications.
Conduct potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, and serving as Independent Consultant or Facilitator in risk analysis workshops.
Client liaison and experience with technical review boards.
Project management of multidisciplinary teams and the engagement of AECOM’s operations/finance teams
Mentoring and technical development of junior staff, supporting them to achieve technical success
Collaborate with technical leads in our Mining Department and with Dams staff in Oakland, CA
Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Due to the nature of this work, a valid U.S Driver’s License is
