The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills and a background in indirect procurement.

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Sourcing Manager to lead procurement efforts for both retail packaging and store operations materials within our grocery business. This role will manage end-to-end sourcing strategies for packaging used in non-merchandise categories such as store supplies, carry-out bags, sanitation materials, and point-of-sale (POS) consumables. The successful candidate will deliver cost savings, operational efficiency, sustainability improvements, and vendor performance excellence

What You'll Do:

  • Own and manage the full lifecycle of the retail packaging and operations supplies categories.
  • Conduct category spend analysis, identify sourcing opportunities, and drive year-over-year continuous savings and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product, Store Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, and Private Label teams to develop and refine category strategies.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and implement sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, and service.
  • Support packaging transitions for new product launches or supplier changes with minimal operational disruption.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues affecting supply chain, store performance, or consumer experience.
  • Develop sourcing plans and lead RFPs/RFQs for packaging and operational goods such as:
  • Select and onboard suppliers based on cost, quality, and service capabilities.
  • Lead contract negotiations and ensure supplier compliance with SLAs and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and develop corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, USDA, FDA, local laws, and environmental packaging regulations.
  • Serve as a sourcing partner across merchandising, operations, warehouse, and marketing teams to align sourcing with business goals.
  • Support new product launches and seasonal changes by ensuring timely availability of packaging and operational supplies.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, vendor engagement models, and category performance.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in procurement, category management, or sourcing, with at least 3 years focused on packaging and/or operational supplies in grocery, retail, or foodservice.
  • Strong understanding of food-grade packaging and operational sourcing needs in a high-volume retail environment.
  • Proficient in Procurement systems (e.g., Coupa, DocuSign, SAP/Ariba) and Excel.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with private label packaging and packaging design/development
  • Professional certifications (MBA, CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or equivalent)
