Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.   

Capital Power is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced professional to join our team as the Lead, Government Relations & Regulatory Policy. In this opportunity, you’ll focus on advancing our Balanced Energy Solutions strategy, including partnerships with AI-driven data centers and supporting key policy initiatives. Reporting to the VP of Government Relations, Regulatory & Policy, with a dotted line to the VP of Balanced Energy Solutions, you’ll help shape policy, support advocacy, and ensure stakeholder alignment.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Serving as the subject-matter expert for Balanced Energy Solutions initiatives, including partnerships with data centers.
  • Monitoring and analyzing federal, state and market policy developments impacting the ability of IPPs to serve data centers.
  • Acting as the point person for the Government Relations & Regulatory team on Data Center initiatives, ensuring alignment across internal stakeholders.
  • Developing policy positions, briefing materials, and recommendations for executives and internal teams.
  • Supporting advocacy strategies, regulatory filings, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Providing research and analysis on energy policy and emerging technology matters.
  • Coordinating cross-team efforts to advance policy and regulatory objectives efficiently.

What you will bring to the role:   

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, energy/environmental studies, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations.
  • Familiarity with U.S. energy markets and regulatory processes.
  • Highly organized, able to manage several projects and internal processes/business partners simultaneously.
  • Experience with energy procurement for large-scale data centers or tech companies.
  • Knowledge of AI workloads and their energy demands.
  • Prior work or demonstrated understanding of public-private partnerships involving energy and digital infrastructure.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Additional Details:

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

The pay range for this position is $127,000.00 to $146,000.00.

The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.

This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.
