The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing collections for accounts <90 days past due, focusing on maximizing results within allocated resources. Reporting to the Director of Account Services, the Manager supervises two supervisors, a team lead, customer service representatives, and a team of collectors, ensuring compliance with collection laws and implementing strategies to improve performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·Oversee two supervisors, a team lead, customer service representatives, and a team of collectors

·Provide coaching, development, and performance reviews for direct reports to ensure optimal team performance.

·Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment that encourages engagement and professional growth.

·Collection Strategy & Execution:

oDevelop and implement strategies to improve collections on accounts <90 days past due.

oFocus on key delinquency stages, including:

§Early-stage (before 30 days past due)

§Middle-stage (before 60 days past due)

§Late-stage (before 90 days past due or transitioning to collection agencies)

oMonitor performance metrics, identify trends, and adjust strategies to maximize results.

·Compliance & Risk Management:

oEnsure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including CFPB, FDCPA, TCPA, and Bankruptcy laws

oMitigate risks associated with collection activities and maintain high standards of ethical conduct.

·Systems & Process Optimization:

oServe as a subject matter expert for collection systems (e.g., RMS on AS400 platform) and internal  procedures.

oCollaborate with the Director of Account Services to enhance system capabilities and improve operational efficiencies.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

·Proven ability to lead and manage teams, including supervisors and team leads.

·Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret performance metrics.

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team management and customer interactions.

·Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and familiarity with collection systems.

·Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS from four-year college/university or related field or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of debt collection regulations (CFPB, FDCPA, TCPA, Bankruptcy) is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in customer service, collections, or lending, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience..

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a professional office environment at UCFS offices in Westlake, Ohio.

This is typically a full-time position, which is defined as being scheduled to work 40 hours or more per week. UCFS is open for operation 7 days a week.  Occasional weekends may be necessary depending on business requirements.
