Overall Summary
As the Product Manager, Knees your primary role will be to plan, implement, and control all marketing related aspects of MicroPort Orthopedics (MPO) Knee Solutions. You will lead the development and manage the execution of the Marketing strategy for the MPO Knee portfolio, including implants, instrumentation, and surgical approach to achieve defined business objectives. You will be creating and implementing industry business solutions that align with customers’ needs and meet the strategic and financial objectives of the organization.
You will focus on successful commercialization of products and managing the life cycle of the existing implant and instrumentation portfolio. This includes both long-range strategic planning and short-term tactical execution. As Product Manager, Knees, you will understand the competitive landscape and identify market trends and growth opportunities.
You will be expected to meet or exceed product line budget objectives by collaborating with key internal personnel to bring innovative new products to market, by serving as the market expert in their area of expertise and guiding key internal business processes, and by actively supporting the field sales force. You will develop and/or support the marketing planning process and oversee the implementation and other tactical related activities. As Product Manager, Knees, you must be able to prioritize activities and allocate resources for greatest effectiveness.
You must work closely with Sales, Leadership Team and other cross-functional leadership to understand market trends, customer perspectives, competitor activities and industry dynamics to develop strategic segment plans and tactics necessary to drive the MPO Knee business forward.
You must be able to identify unmet customer needs and new business opportunities and provide vision and focus to move products from an idea to commercialization. A high degree of initiative, leadership skills, urgency, analytical and big picture problem solving skills with a strong desire to create step changes in innovation, decision making ability, and aptitude for personnel management are required.
Your duties will include:
- Utilizes knowledge of existing and new products and market needs to formulate strategic and creative marketing plans.
- Initiates and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver Target Product Profiles and accompanying business cases to support with project prioritization and evaluation.
- Maintains ongoing awareness of performance to budget and takes corrective action as needed.
- Analyzes product line performance from both a quantitative and qualitative standpoint to determine which products should be iterated, line extended, discontinued, etc.
- Communicates product-related sales support information to the field sales force in the form of Product/Marketing updates and other communication formats.
- Develops and supports product training for both surgeons during medical education events and field sales force.
- Based on product line analysis reports, takes corrective actions as needed to ensure acceptable profitability.
- Develops positioning strategies for new and existing products.
- Seeks out, validates, and defines new product concepts.
- Develops short-term and long-range budgets
