Job Description
This role is involved in our Condition Monitoring, Defect Elimination, and Machine Health programs within our Surface Maintenance Department. It focuses on heavy equipment used in open pit mining including rigid frame haul trucks, hydraulic mining excavators and shovels, pedestal/platform drills and boom drills, and support equipment such as bull dozers, motor graders, and front-end loaders. This role requires the ability to speak and read English due to regular computer use along with arithmetic and statistical mathematics, and the effective communication of that work to the rest of the maintenance team, vendors, and contractors. This role requires high integrity and attention to detail due to the consequences of its findings and recommendations.
Primary responsibilities:
- Condition Monitoring
- Used Oil Sample registration, interpreting the analysis, and communicating to the maintenance team, to include work order creation in the CMMS.
- Conduct Non-Destructive Testing such Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, and Thermography.
- Defect Elimination
- Assists, trains, and or coaches’ others in diagnosing and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) to determine contributing factors and recommend improvements. Includes attending or conducting component teardowns to facilitate RCFA.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement projects such as oil change interval increases, alternative component or lubricant studies, and contamination control projects.
- Makes recommendations on cost and waste reduction, procedure updates, equipment improvements
- Machine Health
- Gather, analyse, and communicate machine health trends to the rest of the maintenance team.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements
- At least three years combined experience in one or both of the following:
- Reliability Technician focusing on Heavy Equipment with experience in
- Used oil analysis
- Non-Destructive Testing and inspection such as:
- Thermography
- Ultrasonic Testing
- Magnetic Particle
- Dye penetrant
- Vibration analysis
- Motion Amplification
- Maintenance Technician for heavy equipment
- Experience with Komatsu, Sandvik, Caterpillar, or Epiroc equipment preferred
- Basic welding knowledge
- Reliability Technician focusing on Heavy Equipment with experience in
- At least three years combined experience in one or both of the following:
- Beneficial Trainings and Certifications
- Used Oil Analysis
- Machine Lubricant Technician/Analysist/Engineer (MLA, MLT, MLE)
- Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS)
- Used Oil Analysis
