What we want 

The Postdoctoral Research Associate participates in a research lab focused on understanding the impact of ischemic stroke on acute and long-term changes in behavior and brain pathology. Major techniques of the laboratory include rodent surgeries, behavioral analysis, viral gene targeting strategies (in vitro and in vivo), immunohistochemistry, fluorescence & confocal microscopy, flow cytometry. Leads a project focused on defining how an epigenetic modifier impact stroke recovery in aging.

Salary: $4,166.67 monthly

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Appropriate PhD in a related field.​

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD. in Neurobiology, Psychology, or related fields.

• Experience working with small animal models of neurological disease or trauma, stereotaxic surgery, behavior.

• Experience in bioinformatics (transcriptomics/proteomics).

• Fluorescent and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, familiarity with cell culture.

• Candidates should have excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

• Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

Research

• Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise.

• Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite.

• Analyzes research data and summarizes results.

• Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications

Lab Specific

• Performs rat surgeries including stroke surgeries and stereotaxic injections

• Performs behavioral assessments of motor and sensory function and cognitive function in rats.

• Performs brain histology and microscopy
