Job Description
Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician will ensure company and customer quality standards are being met. They will work under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager where they conduct quality tests, engineering analyses, perform inspection checks, generate statistical analyses, create work instructions/visual aids, and communicate test results. They will ensure personnel are trained with regards to product specifications and leverage the ITW Toolbox to simplify and automate Quality Assurance activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create work instructions and visual aids to communicate acceptable product quality levels.
- Set up Control Plans and Inspection Plans in LX QMS
- Train personnel on the use of LX QMS and audit inspection results
- Conduct basic statistical analyses such as normality testing, capability analysis and developing control limits.
- Document results from testing and prepare data/information for/in CAPA investigations and validation reports
- Support technical root cause investigation and resolution of product quality issues found at the customer or in-process.
- Support the selection and installation of instrumentation needed to collect data, including supporting Gage R&R calculations to confirm appropriateness of selection.
- Utilize standard test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, comparator, etc., with no direction.
- Lead and participate in Toolbox projects to understand, simplify, automate and improve quality assurance processes.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in the investigation process pertaining to customer complaints, CAPAs, or internal investigations and customer communication.
- Read and interpret specifications, Process Flow Diagrams, Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Process Control Plans.
- Provide input on inspection methods related to continuous improvement initiatives related to the job.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of quality processes, measures, and procedures.
- Understand and comply with the company’s quality management system (ISO 13485).
- Understand and comply with the company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties to comply with departmental objectives, as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum Associates degree required or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years of experience with Quality Assurance & Quality Control methods
- Ability to read schematics/drawings and use manufacturers’ product data sheets
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Willing to work flexible hours and passionate about getting jobs done.
- Ability to coordinate outside testing
- Hands-on approach: Proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed
- Ability to travel for work related experiences
- Injection Molding experience (desired)
- Strong computer skills – particularly Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Minitab and the ability to learn ERP navigation.
- Ability to read and write English
- Attention to detail, organization, and strong multitasking abilities
- Experience with root cause analysis/8D
- Excellent decision making and time management skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong mathematics & statistics knowledge
