POSITION SPECIFICS
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at The Pennsylvania University is seeking an Associate Director.
Roles and Responsibilities: The Associate Director will supervise OSP personnel as assigned. The successful candidate will review and supervise complex negotiations and collaborate with other OSP personnel and affiliated offices to meet and exceed faculty expectations for service in support of sponsored projects. This individual will interact on a regular basis with faculty, other administrative offices, and external sponsors.
They successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of research administration, as well as experience, reviewing, analyzing, and processing sponsored research awards, as well as non-financial agreements from federal and state agencies, industrial sponsors, foundations, and other public and private sources. Excellent communication skills are required.
Responsibilities: Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage own portfolio of assigned agreements.
- Monitor team workload assignments.
- Supervise and train assigned staff.
- Serve as a member of OSP Management Team, contributing to efforts towards continuous improvement of OSP processes.
- Support professional development of both OSP personnel and members of PSU research administration community.

Work Arrangement: The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
