The Opportunity:
As a military aircraft software engineer, you know that good, on-time, and well-maintained software is the lifeblood of weapon systems and critical to national defense. You use your expertise to develop, evaluate, and evaluate code that enables the many systems the make a modern military aircraft. We’re looking for a seasoned software engineer like you to take on our clients’ most important mission-forward challenges.
As a lead software engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll oversee a team that develops systems, sites, and tools for our clients. Using the latest tools and technology, you’ll guide the design, development, evaluation test, integration, and maintenance of software in support of the F-35 Team’s overall results. You’ll share your skills, advise clients, and set direction for the team for design reviews, test processes, and certification activities. You’ll partner with other stakeholders to troubleshoot and correct operational issues, as well as with cybersecurity specialists to ensure that the software you’re creating is secure.

You Have:
- 8+ years of experience with Operational Flight Program or DoD aircraft software development, modification, integration, testing, and maintainability
- Experience with Agile methodology, software engineering, product management, and software products
- Experience evaluating software, baselines, and risk and issue mitigations for DoD aircraft or weapon systems
- Experience with DoD weapon systems capability requirements and validation
- Experience mentoring or supervising employees within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition and program management
- Knowledge of automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a technical field
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with Fifth-Generation Fighter aircraft software or systems engineering
- Experience with DoD risk management, resource management, or configuration management processes
- Knowledge of Tactical Data Links or DoD aircraft mission systems
- Knowledge of F-35 Joint Program Office processes and procedures
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management or other DoD acquisition metrics
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
