About you and this role

We are looking for a Senior Analytical Manager to join our Environmental Analytical group located in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.

This position is a temporary contract for 1 year.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Environmental Analytical group to provide analytical chemistry expertise to Environmental Operations (EnvOps) and the Environmental Remediation and Restoration (ER&R) group in EMEAI. This role exists within the Environmental Technology Center which also helps support Dow’s sustainability goals. You will be responsible for ensuring the correct environmental analytical support and expertise is given to the various projects and initiatives in the EnvOps and ER&R organizations.

You will be expected to:

Work globally across the function using chemistry, lab and analytical knowledge, to identify, develop and implement optimum analytical solutions in support of Environmental Operations and Environmental Remediation and Restoration needs. Requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise within the job discipline or field.

Responsibilities

• Select and apply analytical systems, work processes and process safety, in partnership with other functional leaders, to improve process reliability and Lab Productivity to create value for global businesses.
• Provide global functional technical expertise for: Determination of strategic improvements to work process, tools, lab facilities and technology to ensure sustainability of high-quality data and results. Identify common needs, charters teams to develop the solutions and sponsors/leads the team through full implementation globally.
• Use technical expertise and knowledge of businesses to globally prioritize project requests. Define technical solutions for complex problems.
• Sponsor and lead the development of new or novel analytical systems and tools to improve performance and value creation for clients and customers.
• Document, communicate and archive results. Train and coach others on analytical systems, processes and tools.
• Be the technical lead for the Environmental Analytical activities in Europe and make sure analytical needs for upcoming environmental regulations are addressed in Dow.
• Partner with other analytical organizations in Dow (Analytical Center of Expertise and Core R&D Analytical Sciences) to provide the environmental analytical support for sites, businesses and functions.
• Partner with 3rd party labs and research institutes on complex environmental analytical problems that cannot be solved by internal labs.
• Provide key technical inputs into the development of the Environmental Technology Center’s strategy.
• Provide analytical expertise for Dow Compliance and Permit departments.
• Represent Dow in external technology networks and venues.

Qualifications

• MSc in Analytical with at least 5 years of relevant experience in applying various analytical technologies, preferably related to environmental assets and projects.
• Or you have a bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry with at least 10 years of relevant experience in applying various analytical technologies, preferably related to environmental assets and projects.
• You have led and have been involved in different cross function/cross business projects.
• You are an expert in Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry Detectors
• You are fluent in English, verbally and in writing.
• Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability and experience managing multiple projects and priorities among a group of stakeholders.  
• Ability to collaborate and build good working relationships with various groups within and outside of Dow.
