About the role

 

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week 

 

 

 

We are seeking a technically sophisticated and process-oriented investment professional to join the Multi-Asset Solutions team at NYLIM. Reporting to the Head of Trading and Ops, this role sits at the intersection of multi-asset trading oversight, index management, portfolio analytics, and AI-enabled infrastructure development.

 

The position combines responsibility for daily portfolio implementation and index operations with the ownership and modernization of internal analytical systems. A key focus of the role will be leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance trading workflows, portfolio monitoring, reporting processes, and daily index management, ensuring operational integrity across all multi-asset mandates.

 

The ideal candidate brings strong programming expertise, database proficiency, operational discipline, and the ability to apply emerging AI technologies to improve investment processes in a controlled institutional environment.

 

What You’ll Do:

1. Trading Oversight, Index Management & Operations

  • Direct daily multi-asset trading oversight across equities, fixed income, ETFs, and derivatives, ensuring seamless execution and settlement.
  • Spearhead daily index management, including the monitoring and processing of corporate actions to minimize tracking error and ensure mandate alignment.
  • Execute systematic and discretionary rebalancing while proactively managing portfolio exposures, positioning, and cash buffers.
  • Maintain operational integrity by documenting rigorous workflows and mitigating execution risks within complex trading and indexing environments.

2. AI-Enabled Infrastructure, Automation & Process Governance

  • Design AI-driven solutions to optimize the monitoring of daily corporate actions and automate the detection of index methodology changes.
  • Modernize legacy workflows by identifying opportunities to replace manual data entry with intelligent automation and LLM-based tools.
  • Collaborate with Tech and Investment teams to build scalable infrastructure that integrates real-time index data with internal trading systems.
  • Establish governance frameworks to ensure the responsible and compliant deployment of AI tools within institutional investment processes.

3. Portfolio Analytics & Risk Monitoring

  • Maintain proprietary tools for exposure analysis, performance attribution, and the granular monitoring of index-relative risk.
  • Analyze the impact of corporate actions on portfolio performance, ensuring all analytical outputs reconcile with formal accounting records.
  • Systematize investment logic by translating manual index-tracking processes into structured, automated, and scalable analytical frameworks.
  • Generate data-driven insights for internal stakeholders and clients, focusing on implementation efficiency and tracking performance.

4. Database & Data Engineering (Required)

  • Own and optimize SQL-based databases specifically designed to house multi-asset holdings, index constituents, and corporate action history.
  • Develop robust data pipelines that integrate complex market data feeds with internal portfolio management and trading oversight tools.
  • Implement automated validation controls to ensure the resilience, integrity, and accuracy of data used for daily index management.
  • Define engineering standards and maintain comprehensive documentation for all database architectures and data governance activities.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or financial field (Finance, CS, Engineering, Math, or Economics).
  • Professional Experience: 4–7 years in asset management, trading oversight, or portfolio analytics with a focus on institutional operations.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Python and expert-level SQL/database management skills.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of multi-asset instruments (including derivatives) and the mechanics of daily index management and corporate actions.
  • Systems Innovation: Proven track record of building, enhancing, or automating analytical systems and operational infrastructure.
