JOB SUMMARY:
Process patients in a timely manner, assist providers and patients, respect the confidentiality of agency and clients.
SCOPE OF ASSESSMENT:
Gathering of Demographic and Financial information for billing, obtain height, weight, temperature and blood pressure, record information in chart for provider review. Obtain urine samples, throat culture, perform fingerstick blood sugar and hemoglobin - Obtain reason for visit and history of allergies.
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS
This is a full-time position.
Part time when specified by the Health Center Director.
Must be able to work evenings and rotating Saturdays as scheduled.
Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required in the event of vacation time or short staffing.
May be required to work at any CCAP location.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual / Bicultural Spanish required at some locations.
High school diploma, or GED
Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Triage skills
MMR and TB
Organizational skills
Excellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider and colleague interaction
Professional telephone manner
Current CPR (BLS) certifications
CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION
Full access to client's medical record and some access to financial/statistical material.
Maintains client confidentiality at all levels of interaction in accordance with State and Federal Laws and CCAP
Policies and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and process patients, take vitals (BP, Wt., Ht., Pulse and Temp.)
Obtain and record patient data in EHR (Vitals, Social Hx’s, PHQ’s, Lab results)
Perform routine diagnostic test per FHS protocol.
Urinalysis, hct, Hb A1c, blood glucose, lead tests and hCG (pregnancy test)
Operate and maintain clinical equipment.
Scrub and sterilize instruments properly in autoclave.
Prepare patients for examinations and tests.
Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps
Register and update patient information.
Schedule appointments
Confirm insurance eligibility.
Confirm next day appointments.
Properly document in EMR Chart
Clean and stock rooms
Assist providers in rooms as needed.
Alert appropriate person of supplies needed.
Secure department and end of shift if last to leave, unplug equipment, lock medication cabinets and shut off lights.
Computer literate
Paperwork as needed.
Fill out lab and state transmittals.
Fill out CVR’s.
Other duties as needed.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/ ENVIRONMENT
Moderate physical activity: walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and occasional lifting. Frequent use of phone, writing, typing, doing vital signs and verbal communication. Need to be able to sterilize instruments appropriate, clean waiting room and exam rooms as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Significant exposure to blood borne pathogens, respiratory disease, other infectious diseases and other biohazardous materials requiring universal standard precautions for medical practitioners. Lifting up to 20 lbs.
