About the role

Overview

The Department of Public Service (PSD) is recruiting for a Financial Administrator for the Administrative Services Division. The work will involve monitoring budgets, assisting with budget development and preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain internal control systems
  • Balance and reconcile accounting records
  • Prepare financial statements, summaries and reports for review
  • Maintain Agency records and filing systems
  • Analyze and distribute multi-program costs to appropriate funds
  • Input and track expenditures through electronic system
  • Prepare journal vouchers for the transfer of funds
  • Monitor grants, prepare and submit financial reports, sub-recipient monitoring.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule.

This position, Financial Administrator I (Job Requisition #50740), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized through 08/31/2029. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/office administration.

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, business/office administration AND two (2) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.

Preferred Qualifications

All levels of required accounting experience, unless otherwise noted, must have been performed to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and standards.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
