This position is responsible for the direct provision or coordination of assessment and treatment of assigned patients. Provides services within the scope of practice of professional discipline and ethical standards of applicable national professional association. 

Must adhere to the Personnel Policies, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position.  Must represent the organization’s Mission and Key Values in all actions, communications, and representations with all contacts.

This is a full time, benefit eligible position typically working Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Maternal Infant Health is a home visiting program and the team is based out of our Westside Health Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy under the supervision of fully licensed staff. 
  • Maintain timely clinical documentation and reporting within all standards and agency policies which apply under the supervision of fully licensed staff. 
  • Assessment and diagnosis of psychopathology including mental health and/or substance related disorders under the supervision of fully licensed staff.
  • Create treatment plans that are measurable.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and the agency’s billing and finance departments to problem solve any authorization or payment issues for patients.
  • Maintain communication with MIHP care coordinators and Strong Beginnings Community Health Workers as part of a support team for the patient.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers and psychiatrists to effectively treat the biological aspect of behavioral health disorders under the supervision of fully licensed staff. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences and training requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing clinical supervision as required by state law or regulation with a qualified individual in the clinician’s professional discipline.
  • Understand and adhere to Cherry Health’s compliance standards as they appear in Cherry Health’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Cherry Health regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent organizational skills and good

computer skills.  Able to be flexible in work hours to meet patient needs.  Ability to manage time efficiently, possess self-confidence and maintain a positive behavior in a manner so that you get along with patients and co-workers.  Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

Master’s Degree in Social Work and licensed by the State of Michigan (LLMSW or LMSW) required.  Must work towards obtaining Michigan Association of Infant Mental Health endorsement for Infant Mental Health Specialist with an anticipated completion within two years of employment. Valid Michigan driver’s license required.  Heartsaver prior to start.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one to two years of previous culturally sensitive, relationship focused, mental health treatment experience preferred. Must have experience with infants/toddlers, their families, and infant/toddler development and attachment. Must have the ability to facilitate patient and family groups; familiar with Motivational Interviewing and other Evidenced Based Treatment models.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 The essential functions of this position must be able to be accomplished with or without accommodations.

Frequent telephone and computer use.Use of manual dexterity may be required for writing and computer use.May involve sitting for extended periods of time. Independently mobile with the possibility of climbing stairs.Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
