Position Summary

The Analytics & Behavior Change team sits at the intersection of CVS and Aetna. We are an elite, rapidly growing community of nearly 1,000 MDs, PhDs, MBAs, and MSc from top tier universities and industries who bring their clinical, technical, and economic experience to bear in tackling some of today’s most critical healthcare questions.

The Specialty Pharmacy Growth and Optimization group within Analytics & Behavior Change wields cutting-edge analytics and data science techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Specialty Pharmacy business. We are looking for a strong team player who enjoys an entrepreneurial working environment to join us as a Senior Decision Scientist, to help us execute on limited drug distribution channels and program evaluation projects.

Our Senior Decision Scientists consult with internal clients to identify opportunities to implement data science solutions to business problems at an advanced level. Understands and recommends modeling techniques to data scientists.

Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions.

Ability to structure data analysis, driving analytics insights and analytical solutions to help data scientists determine the best analytical solution. Present recommendations to senior staff and internal clients. Mentors more junior team members. Collaborates with business partners to understand their problems and goals, develop predictive modeling, statistical analysis, data reports and performance metrics. Consults on the creation of analytics solutions that effectively weigh business and technical tradeoffs using an intermediate understanding of business strategy as well as relevant big data environment topics. Acts as an analytics product owner translating business needs into analytics projects and actions. Leads development of solutions with moderate complexity and risk

Required Qualifications

- 3 years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact

- 1+ years of people management experience

- 3 years of experience strategy consulting or on strategy teams in large companies

- 3 years of experience programming using R, Hadoop, or Python

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources

- Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur

- Healthcare sector experience preferred

- Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners

- Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling and in-depth specialization in some areas

- Business analytics (quantifying value of projects, monitoring and reporting on project effectiveness)

- Statistics and statistical analysis

- Regression/parametric analysis

- Building PowerPoint presentations to communicate analytical work

- SQL and Tableau (can take other visualization platforms)

- Fluency in Machine learning (tree-based methods, etc.), Deep learning (esp. NLP), Time series modeling, Optimization or supply chain analysis, Study design and evaluation

- Familiarity with health care data and industry context, corporate finance, budgets, and forecasting

- Designing and deploying production-quality models that are solve enterprise challenge

Education

- Bachelor's degree in quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience

- Master's degree in quantitative field or MBA strongly preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term
