The Impact You’ll Make in this Role 

 
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our team in Advanced Materials & Transportation Product Platform Application, Automation & AI group. The ideal candidate will design, test, deploy, and maintain data pipelines and AI tools, supporting product development, process development, and horizontal use cases. This role requires collaboration with colleagues in the Advanced Materials & Transportation Product Platform, Transportation & Electronics Business Group Verticals, Corporate Research Labs, and division partners. 

 

As a Data Engineering Advanced Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: 

 

  • Leading the design and deployment of data pipelines and foundational data systems. 
  • Developing and maintaining AI tools to support various business needs. 
  • Collaborating with product developers and application engineers to develop vertical use cases for automotive and aerospace applications. 
  • Staying up to date with the latest software updates and requirements, whether from third-party providers or from internal organizations. 
  • Collaborating seamlessly with personnel in AMTPP, TEBG verticals, corporate research, divisions, and other internal and external resources as needed to accomplish your objectives. 
  • Establishing best practices for our developers, mentoring them in writing better software, and introducing relevant new services to the team to accelerate top priorities. 

 

Your Skills and Expertise   
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: 

 

  • Doctoral degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)  

  • Three (3) years of Data Engineering/Science in a private, public, government or military environment  

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: 

 

  • Five (5) years of Data Engineering/Science in a private, public, government or military environment
