General Job Function:

As a Fellow Engineer, the individual will provide technical leadership and supervision in the area I&C distribution and control systems for commercial nuclear power plants.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):

Provide technical leadership and supervision of work completed by junior engineers   

Address complex technical issues and challenges in the DCIS area to meeting customer needs (quality, schedule and cost)

Supervise and mentor junior engineers in their work and their technical development

Oversee and successfully implement product/process development projects – considering “breakthrough” technologies and cost improvement objectives.

Develop innovative solutions to create customer value in collaboration with appropriate Westinghouse organizations

Drive technology continuous improvement and standardization.   Work with external and internal customers, with innovation group as well as peers to develop the group technical road maps strategy and plan

Provide visible leadership to industry standards and regulation

 

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:

Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) – Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
  • Master degree is preferred but not required

Years of Experience (if applicable):

  • Minimum 20 years of leadership with instrumentation & control experience

Professional Certifications:

  • PE preferred but not required

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience in I&C systems, including PWR and BWR Turbine control, NSSS controls, other control systems nuclear plant systems. 
  • Knowledge and experience in Ovation (Emerson) Platform.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead the engineering of customer- oriented solutions which directly support Company’s profitability goals. 
  • Demonstrated successful offer development skills in effectively estimating, planning and executing significantly complex projects/programs. 
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and a proven history of managing and effectively leading multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and interfacing with multiple functional groups.
  • Demonstrate clear, crisp communication (including commitment to documentation of key customer/commercial decisions and effective communication of industry interactions).
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee engineering activities and opportunity management, conveying feedback on customer satisfaction, needs and opportunities. 
  • Continually scans the environment to verify products and services are adding value to both the customer and Westinghouse.
  • Demonstrates business skills, including consideration of financial and business impact when making decisions.
  • Consistent demonstration of driving for results.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally, as well as upstream and downstream, to create alignment and ensure work is done right the first time.
  • Build consultative relationships with internal and external stakeholders: operations, maintenance, and engineering decision-makers to enhance Westinghouse’s position as premier value-added supplier.
  • Persuasive ability to get stakeholders to cooperate or act.
