Description of Work

The Adolescent Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the availability, quality, and continuous improvement of evidence-based, trauma-informed substance use disorder treatment and recovery services for adolescents on a statewide basis. The Adolescent Services Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and subject matter expertise to support the development and implementation of adolescent-focused substance use disorder services. The role works closely with internal DMHDDSUS teams, as well as other departmental divisions, LME/MCOs, providers, and cross-system partners to strengthen service delivery, address system gaps, and improve outcomes for adolescents and families.

The Adolescent Services Coordinator provides a wide array of duties specific to adolescent substance use disorder services. The position will research existing programs within the state system of services, as well as those existing in other states, make recommendations for improvements and/or modifications of services, programs and clinical policies and develop new initiatives based on identification of need.

Responsibilities may include the following:

• Ensure the efficient use of state and federal funds used to support and expand access to high-quality, evidence-based adolescent SUD services statewide;
• Ensure the adolescent services are accessible, developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and responsive to the needs of youth, including those with opioid use disorder and co-occurring conditions;
• Lead, develop and coordinate processes to establish new and needed services across the continuum of care, aligned with ASAM levels of care;
• Provide oversight, consultation, and technical assistance through contractual agreements to support implementation of evidence-based practices and models;
• Oversee and manage state and federal funding streams, including allowable usages;
• Develop and ensure implementation of a comprehensive and robust recovery support services system for adolescents;
• Conduct, at a minimum, quarterly meetings with various stakeholders, including LME/MCO staff and contracted adolescent substance use disorder treatment providers to ensure appropriate utilization of services and funds to drive continuous quality improvement;
• Respond to adolescent service system demands, issues and needs as presented by the Department, Division, stakeholders, families, etc., and assist in the development of timely and effective solutions;
• Identify areas of intersection between DMHDDSUS and other youth-serving agencies (DSS, DPS, DPH) and work to identify ways to leverage resources available from each system to enhance and better meet all care needs of youth, as well as other licensing and/or credentialing agencies;
• Collaborate with internal teams within the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services section to ensure alignment of adolescent services with broader system initiatives priorities, including transition-age youth.

Salary Range: $55,221 - $96,639

Recruitment Range: $55,221 - $82,713

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

• Considerable knowledge of adolescent substance use disorder treatment, recovery services, and co-occurring mental health conditions.

• Clinical knowledge and skills are required in understanding and ensuring the implementation of substance use disorder treatment best practices, including excellent monitoring, consultation, training and technical assistance skills. This position also requires working knowledge of the juvenile justice system, detention services, etc.
