This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides professional support to the facility superintendent in developing, maintaining and implementing various complex programs and activities in a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility.
- Provides professional support to superintendent; gathers and compiles various data, reports and other correspondence to executive and/or management staff for meetings and inquiries. Interprets rules, regulations and policies to facility superintendent and staff.
- Prepares and processes all personnel action requests for the facility, such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.; maintains related documents and employee files.
- Provides assistance with personnel issues, worker's comp, EEO, ADA, insurance, and performance evaluations, etc.
- Serves as facility timekeeper; maintains all time and attendance records. Prepares and reviews all timesheets for entry in payroll system.
- Responds to written and verbal inquiries.
- Provides assistance with facility training files.
- Serves as back-up to fiscal manager in their absence.
- Attends required trainings and meetings.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
