About the role

Summary/Objective

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the overall operations of firmwide learning and development initiatives. Specifically, this position will assist in managing training course registration, learning management system reporting, on-site training event coordination, record keeping, and other administrative functions of the People & Organization Development team.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with L&D Manager/Specialists to assist in day-to-day training operations for the Firm
  • Create and maintain team member records in multiple learning management platforms
  • Coordinate conference room reservations, hotel accommodations, and catering for on-site training events, as well as remote team fly-ins.
  • Manage the purchase and distribution of physical and digital learning materials
  • Follow established procedures to promote learning opportunities through the Firm’s internal communication platform
  • Serve as the first line of defense for general inquiries, directing requests to the appropriate team member
  • Assist Learning & Development Specialists with the technical production of virtual training sessions
  • Satisfy accounts payable by processing vendor invoices in a timely manner
  • Assist the Ridgeland, MS location by serving as primary relief for front desk
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Work environment

Work to be performed from HORNE’s Ridgeland, Mississippi office

 

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Travel required

Less than 10%, as required per business needs
 

Required education and experience

  • High School Diploma is required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a professional office setting
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, with minimal oversight; must be a self-starter and have the ability to think ahead to next steps/processes
  • High level of comfort adapting to new technology
  • Ability to greet guests and direct incoming calls with professionalism and hospitality
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to utilize technical tools and systems to streamline work load
  • Proficient with use of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, video conferencing and team communication tools
  • Must be able to work in a Microsoft Office environment, to include Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Background check required

Preferred education and experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s in general business, business administration, or a closely related field is strongly preferred
  • Prior human resources or learning and development experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a professional services firm is preferred
  • Working knowledge of learning management systems is preferred
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g. Teamwork.com) is preferred
