JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship and The Garber Center for Venture Capital Investment at Smeal College of Business is seeking an Administrative Assistant - Senior Support. This position reports directly to the Administrative Coordinator and will work in collaboration with department leadership and staff.

Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and maintain budget, process financial transactions, track expenditures, process budget revisions, and assist with budget preparation and projections.

  • Maintain websites for the Garber Venture Capital Fund and Farrell Center; identify and initiate enhancements, coordinate with key personnel to create and maintain published documents, and edit the program websites, as needed.

  • Communicate via email and participate in meetings with diverse audiences, including Garber Fund companies and/or owners, miscellaneous startup companies, Penn State's legal department, the Office of Investment Management, Smeal College of Business leaders, and Finance Office to achieve program goals.

  • Review and coordinate execution of confidential legal documents and maintain internal records system.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of events related to the Garber Venture Capital Fund and other entrepreneurship events associated with the Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

  • Maintain inventory and order office supplies; arrange for equipment maintenance; process work orders for facilities needs.

Education and Experience:

This position requires an associate's degree and at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of financial management and administrative principles and be able to utilize available tools and technologies to assist in decision-making processes to achieve program goals.

The Administrative Assistant will be highly motivated, have strong communications skills, and be extremely detail-oriented. The successful candidate must be able to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative situations; being a team player is an essential part of this position.
