SUMMARY:
This position assures a supportive role in the daily operation of Attorney department providing assistance to staff in the area of administrative support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Open, sort and distribute incoming mail, arrange for outgoing mail and packages to be sent.
- Prepares correspondence, resolutions, financial statements or other documents using word processing and/or spreadsheet.
- Prepares invoices and bills for approval by Tribal Council and processing through the Finance Department.
- Prepares annual Tribal political contributions.
- Receives and responds to Indian Child Welfare Act notices.
- Performs office related tasks, including but not limited to: inventory, budgeting, filing.
- Answers phone and navigates information requests.
- Schedules meetings and arranges meeting preparations, including but not limited to: reserving, rearranging room set-up, ordering supplies, etc.).
- Updates Law and Order Code in a formatting, editing, and/or proofreading capacity.
- Works cooperatively within the office, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and other agencies; as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three to five years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar capacity.
- Valid Kansas driver's license and must be insurable with the Nation's insurance.
- Must possess a proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Must possess professional work ethics, manner, and appearance.
- Must possess the ability to operate general office equipment.
- Must be available to work the assigned schedule of M-F, 8:00A-4:30P and available as needed to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position, which may include nights, weekends, holiday and overtime.
- A record of satisfactory attendance and performance in all prior and current employment.
