Position Summary
Walsh University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to support the Human Anatomy Laboratories in the School of Behavioral & Health Sciences. The Human Anatomy Laboratory Instructor will work closely with the Director of Human Anatomy to provide anatomy laboratory instruction for Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT) and Master of Occupational Therapy (OT) students within the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences. The Adjunct Instructor will also assist with preparation and maintenance of anatomical specimens, and maintenance of the laboratory facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in laboratory-based teaching (using prepared prosections) with an emphasis on active learning
- Assist with classroom management and maintaining a supportive learning environment in a fast-paced teaching lab
- Develop and deliver educational presentations to meet the needs of PT and OT students
- Contribute to student assessment including laboratory exams
- Support lab safety including appropriate use of personal protective equipment
- Maintain an environment that is respectful of anatomical donors, faculty, staff, and students
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of the laboratory facilities
- Ensure proper maintenance of human anatomical specimens
- Ensure lab security and safe use of laboratory equipment
- Assist in preparing teaching specimens
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Education
Minimum:
- A master's degree with graduate coursework in gross anatomy
Preferred:
- A relevant clinical degree (e.g. DPT, OTD, MD), or an MS or PhD in anatomy or closely related field
- Additional coursework in neuroanatomy/neuroscience, histology, embryology, kinesiology or biomechanics.
Work Experience
Minimum:
- Experience with human anatomical dissection
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
Preferred:
- Experience teaching dissection or prosection based labs
- Experience teaching neuroanatomy/neuroscience labs
- Experience with digital anatomy applications
- Experience with anatomy laboratory maintenance and care of anatomical donors
- Relevant clinical experience
