Job Description
Basic Function:
- A Director is responsible for identifying and executing upon statistical and analytical projects and opportunities to enhance the Data business, both on the Alliance and Survey/Compiled sides.
- This position is often client facing and is responsible for consulting with Sales personnel and external clients.
- Work with other departments to educate Data personnel on proper statistical principles and methodology as well as creating SAS\Python programs.
- Provide strategic input to goals, priorities, and deliverables of the Data Analytics department helping ensure that business needs are met in a statistically sound way.
Key Accountabilities
Note: Directors may or may not have direct reports.
- Support Sales by attending client meetings and conference calls and providing statistical expertise as needed
- Independently build and present statistically sound models and analysis using both standard and non-standard programs
- Collaborate with department leaders to understand client need needs and deliverables for analytic projects
- Design, research, and develop new statistical tools, programs, and products to meet business needs
- Apply industry techniques/ideas/trends to current systems
- Consult/explain complex statistical ideas to both internal and external clients
- Translate clients needs into project plans
- Identify and design improvements for current systems
- Lead medium- to high-level complexity projects
- Research new products and applications of Epsilon Data assets
- Proactively identify business needs and develop project plans to serve them.
- Evaluate and improve current modeling methodology
- Consult with other departments on ways to improve systems
- Continuously focus on ways to improve efficiencies and quality control within the Data Analytics group
- Continuously look for opportunities for new products and applications of Epsilon data
- Serve as a "Go To" person for all of stats department
- Assist the manager in the development of operational and management reports
- Provide project direction/guidance to the rest of the department
- Provide input on staff performance, training requirements/needs, and related admin issues.
- Accountable for setting own direction and giving Junior Analysts, Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Lead Analysts direction on day-to-day activities.
- Coordinate and monitor activities of personnel to ensure effective workflow
- Provide technical guidance to the rest of the group, ensuring not only technical growth but adherence to standards and procedures
- Consult account managers and executives in the development of new modeling techniques and procedures
- Develop strong working relationships with key members of other departments and work with Management to develop a team relationship /understanding between the departments
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Superior knowledge of predictive modeling methodologies and statistical principles (sampling, inferences, transformations, validations, etc.)
- SAS or Python programming
- Demonstrated proactiveness and resourcefulness
- Experienced associate who has demonstrated the ability to lead and deliver complex projects multiple times
- Analytical, problem-solving disposition with excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize between tasks and make strategic decisions
- Strong process and methodology orientation
- Demonstrated team player and leadership abilities with the ability to build teams and consensus to support business initiatives
- Excellent project management and people management skills
- Ability to successfully navigate in a matrixed environment
- Experienced in client interaction
- Must be willing to travel occasionally
- Master’s degree in statistics or related field required
- Minimum 5 years experience with data analysis or modeling with large transactional databases
- Minimum 10 years experience in a statistical field
- Minimum 7 years analytical model building and analytical experience in a relevant industry
