Works under minimal supervision to coordinate and supervise the Ophthalmic Technical Staff.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma 
     
  • Experience
    5 years related supervisory experience in an ophthalmic medical office environment 
     
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (COA) CERT OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT is required by JACHPO 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Complete a weekly tech schedule and adjust accordingly based on provider changes; maintain an accurate schedule that changes considerably during the day.
  • Approve time off while maintaining adequate staffing levels; monitor appropriate staffing levels per physician and patient levels in advance.
  • Order and maintain supplies at appropriate PAR levels; order medication and monitor supplies for expiration dates.
  • Perform audits on staff skill sets as well as electronic medical records; medication entry, and telephone return calls; must also perform audits on department equipment monthly.
  • Provides overall technical guidance and supports the ophthalmic tech staff in all sub specialties.
  • Assist technical staff in training on A/B scans, laser and visual fields.
  • Interview, train, coach and discipline accordingly for a staff of 21 Techs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
