A Day in the Life
This role serves as a member of the Medical Surgical Portfolio Controller team, which is responsible for systems, processes, and procedures associated with closing the books and supporting the control environment.
This position will report directly to the Medical Surgical Portfolio Controller. This position will support the Medical Surgical Portfolio operating units (OU) through performance of month-end close activities and OU financial reporting & analysis.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Manual journal entries, IDCMs, Balance sheet reconciliation preparation, closing activities
Coordinate the accumulation, preparation and approval of post-close journal entries for Medical Surgical.
Responsible for managing, coordinating, and assisting on accounting activities with our Shared Service Centers
Participate in the monthly and quarterly financial close process and provide general ledger and analytics support to management by perform various ad-hoc variance analysis, compilation of monthly reports and preparation of closing packages.
Responsible for the maintenance of assigned balance sheet accounts (e.g. contra revenue accounts, warranty reserves, etc.) for multiple reporting entities in accordance with company policies and GAAP, including identification and appropriate classification of business activity and account reconciliation.
Perform additional financial analysis for special projects upon request.
Driving process improvement projects to ensure consistency and efficiency of activities within Medical Surgical finance and controllership, while maintaining a high-quality account and control environment and ensuring compliance with all corporate financial reporting & accounting policies.
Maintain and / or oversee the control of accounts and records in the areas of revenues, expenses, disbursements, and other associated balance sheet accounts
Provide Medical Surgical Portfolio-level support to internal and external audit, corporate accounting, and tax departments
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (OR Advanced Degree with 2+ years)
Nice to Have

Public accounting experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to manage and manipulate data to develop financial analysis
