Lab Summary:
Samsung Research America is seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to join our Big Data Lab, you will be responsible for designing and building a big data platform that will keep user data secure, scale efficiently based on business needs, and significantly improve the user's experience with Samsung products. You will also work on efficient software and hardware implementations on current and/or upcoming Samsung product platforms. The Big Data Lab is a key part of Samsung’s global R&D effort and aims to help companies operate more efficiently and adapt to changing needs of customers to solve most critical business problems and have direct impact on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
Position Summary:
Member of a highly collaborative software engineering team to design and build a global scale big data platform with cutting-edge technologies to interact with Samsung customers. Multiple roles at various levels are available depending on your level and experience, you may have opportunities to lead big projects with a multi-people team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Define the DevOps strategy for the team and the downstream customers, and lead the team for implementation, including cloud automation, CI/CD, cloud network management, security, monitoring and logging, etc
- Work with technical leads, customer executives, and partners to manage and deliver successful implementations of technical solutions, becoming a trusted advisor to decision-makers throughout the engagement
- Work with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package best practices and lessons learned into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets
- Interact with global R&Ds and overseas technical stakeholders to manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks/issues, and timelines for successful outcomes
- Propose solution architectures and manage the deployment of cloud based big data and analytics solutions according to customer requirements and implementation best practices
- Effectively communication, collaboration with global/regional engineering teams (include HQ)
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, or 10+ years of experience with Masters’ degrees, or 7+ years of experience with PhD degrees.
- 5+ years of developer experience in one of the following domains: CI/CD using Jenkins or Git Action, cloud automation with GCP or AWS, cloud network/VPC management, Kubernetes and Docker management, cloud monitoring and logging, etc
- Experience in managing software engineering projects, and track records of delivering big initiatives from ideation to production with customer success

The base pay range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.Base Pay Range$177,700—$266,450 USD
