About the role

A Cost Accountant job in Woodinville or Paterson, WA is available at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE).  The position is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting and analysis of wine inventory and cost of goods sold. This includes, calculating, maintaining and updating wine costing, as well as performing the accounting, reporting and reconciliation for grape and bulk purchases and sales, farming and vineyard development costs, wine production and other operational costs associated with inventory and production.

Cost Accountant job responsibilities include:

  • Calculate standard cost estimates for bottling, bulk wine and finished goods in accordance with GAAP and Company policies and assist in maintaining cost accounting systems calculations and data.
  • Prepare, analyze and report bulk wine cost allocations, including associated wine costs, storage, freight and other activities which impact cost of products bottled.
  • Reconcile production work orders and report, research, analyze, and resolve material, labor, and overhead production variances for bottling, cellar, vineyards, and warehousing to determine root causes of variances and assist with ideas for corrective actions.
  • Assist operations and winemaking with the annual physical inventory counts as well as prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory activity and analyze balances, activity and cost of goods sold to ensure accurate and timely recognition in the financial statements.
  • Manage the annual grower payment process, including bonus payments.
  • Make recommendations to management for process improvements in production, winemaking and other product cost-related activities, including the cost accounting process itself.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA/ CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience required. Food & Beverage manufacturing and/or wine industry experience preferred.
  • Advance Excel skills and proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Proficient in use of ERP systems, JD Edwards/E1 systems experience preferred.

Your Compensation: 

$67,912-88,400/yr. based upon relevant experience.
