The Team:
S&P Global Ratings’ data services group is a team of data and technology professionals who define and execute the strategic data roadmap. This team builds and manages a series of carefully curated enterprise data stores, data services, data analytics and BI products that are collectively used by global ratings business to create & publish world class credit ratings, high quality research, thought leadership and related content across more than 90 global economies.
This team has broad knowledge on Ratings organization’s data domains, technology stacks, architectural patterns and applies them to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing resulting in unified strategy and innovative ways to support our business goals.
The team follows a flexible hybrid working model with a mix of in-person days and virtual days.
Responsibilities and Impact:
As an Associate Director of Software Engineering at Ratings division you will be
- Responsible for analysis, design, development, and support of enterprise data management systems.
- Influencing the strategy and align the roadmap of our enterprise data applications and drive the execution of initiatives with a product mindset.
- Partnering with other engineering teams and Product owners, including stakeholders in the Ratings organization to achieve business and technology goals.
- Provide inputs to technical leadership for data architecture, design, implementation of new features and iterations of core products.
- Develop and document data standards, provide technical oversight on implementation of new features and iterations of core products adhering to industry best practices.
Compensation/Benefits Information:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $118,094 to $237,100. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent with 8+ years of Information Technology experience
- 5+ years Hands-on experience contributing to data/application architecture & designs, proven software/enterprise integration design patterns and full-stack knowledge including modern distributed front end and back-end technology stacks.
- Deep Experience with three or more technologies of Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot,Large-scale data analytics tools, Scala, Databricks, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Data stream processing tools, Angular/ReactJS
- Experience with Continuous integration, dev-ops, and deployment with tools like Azure DevOps ADO
- Experience in Microservices, API design and implementation, service-oriented architectures, SOAP and RESTful APIs for data management
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Data Management, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Governance
- Expert knowledge of Agile approaches to software development and able to put key Agile principles into practice to deliver solutions incrementally.
- Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with strong ability to influence both technology and business partners.
- Hands-on experience in developing scalable data pipeline using technologies like Data stream processing tools, Databricks, Large-scale data analytics tools and Scala applying ETL and ELT concepts is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment, understanding of project management principles.
- Financial services industry experience is a plus.
- Ability to motivate and mentor other engineering teams and individuals.
