LOCATION: Deploying to the Marshall Islands

Job Summary:

Acuity is looking for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - OB/GYN to support our contract in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

The PA/NP - OB/GYN will have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to provide comprehensive women’s health care throughout the lifespan, with an emphasis on reproductive, gynecologic, and family-centered health education; growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes, specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population from menarche through the remainder of the lifespan; a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required; the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patients condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Identifies and records the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.
  • Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Monitors reconciliation of financial transactions and ensures contract charges are applied uniformly.
  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Master's degree from an approved OB/GYN or women's health nurse practitioner program or Advanced Certification (Certificate of Authority) acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General.
  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant school and hold a NCCPA, AANP or ANCC Certification.
  • Must possess a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner certification with the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for Obstetrics, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties.
  • Hold and maintain an active and unrestricted NP/PA License, free from any pending adverse actions and the ability to be favorability credentialed by Acuity policy.
  • Must have a minimum of 24 months within the past 36 months of clinical practice experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required.
  • All Healthcare Providers and medical support staff must have a recent clinical experience in direct patient care for a least 6 months out of the past year.
