The Apertures and RF Team at Raytheon is looking for a Principal Engineer, Electrical & Electronics Engineering to be a member of a technical team for adaptable and multidiscipline hardware team responsible for analysis, trade studies, design reviews, design, design, testing, fielding/hardware refresh, integration and operational support.

The candidate will be responsible for analysis, trade studies, design reviews, design, testing, fielding, integration and operations throughout the life cycle from initial concept definition through detailed design, development, qualification testing and into fielding and customer support. The team member will support engineering efforts as an individual contributor while developing to lead efforts. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with all aspects of fielding, hardware refresh, integration as well as engineering background with technical experience in radio frequency (RF) communications links and systems, antenna design, functionality, and operation.

This position is an onsite role, located in Aurora, CO.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform trade studies and design reviews
  • Develop hardware deployment plans
  • Field new hardware
  • Travel up to 25% will be required.

                                                                               

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience to include any combination of the following:
    • Experience with RF communications
    • Experience with RF hardware reacap, RF hardware processes and / or installation of RF hardware
    • Experience with RF system integration
    • Experience with test and verification methodologies associated with ground station antenna and antenna electronics
    • Experience with RF Test Equipment (i.e., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters)
    • Experience with satellite ground station architecture and designs
    • Experience with specifications for ground station antenna to include systems performance measurements (G/T, EIRP, feed/sub alignment), and general maintenance activities
    • Experience with satellite RF link design experience such as forward error correction encoding, modulation, Doppler effects, radome effects modeling, system link budgets, weather, etc.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Experience with reflector system design, feed antenna design, solid state amplifiers performance parameters, high power tube amplifiers technology and associated key performance parameters
  • Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with all levels of the organization, including Government customer, Program leadership, subcontractors, and support organizations
  • Ability to translate mission needs into technical capability requirements.
  • Experience with performing trade studies; recommending solutions; and, identifying potential vendors
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Experience with reference timing signals and distribution design
  • Computer networking, basic cyber security/INFOSEC, Security + certification or equivalent desirable
