Job Description:
This role requires working 3-4 days in our Spring, TX office weekly
Job Family Definition:
Focused on enterprise server design, development and sustenance. Has experience and knowledge on schematics, layout as well server debug techniques. Well versed in root cause analysis and closed loop corrective actions.
Designs, analyses, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Represents the organization to external customers/clients as needed on technical discussions. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to junior or newer employees.
Demonstrates good teamwork and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.
Responsibilities:
- Owns platform overall technical accountability in terms of field quality, open issues, second source efforts and new feature assessment and validation.
- Leads multiple project teams of other electrical hardware engineers, extended engineering functional teams and internal, outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of electrical hardware design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms, including design, validation, tooling and testing.
- Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design and system development.
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
- Provides domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware and platform leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
- Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the electrical hardware design organization.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Typically 6-10 years experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Using electrical design tools and software packages.
- Good understanding of fishbone analysis and 5C/8D process.
- Work with vendors and partners to drive engineering teams towards issue resolution and timely completion of development and validation efforts.
- Has experience working on complex hardware and system level issues.
- Can triage and narrow down issues to specific functional blocks.
- Good understanding of Firmware, BIOS, BMC and Operating System.
