The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Multidisciplinary Technical Lead for the University NanoSatellite Program (UNP) to help student teams design, build, and fly their satellite missions. The Technical Lead will mentor and advise students, professors, and co-workers as part of this role. This role will also help organize all elements of UNP including reviews with universities, culminating events, and aid with contract management for the universities. This position is a great opportunity to work with excited, and smart, college students as they learn the satellite development process. This role contains elements of both technical and management, and requires interfacing with many universities, various agencies across the DoD and NASA, as well as industry. This is an on-site, non-remote position for our Albuquerque, NM location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises overarching mission execution of participating universities, including schedule, assignments, and deliverables
- Technically mentors student teams, and co-workers, through satellite design and system engineering
- Prepares and/or reviews documents and presentations for conferences, publicity, and reporting
- Performs schedule management and detailed planning from high-level direction
- Creates and manages program budgets and expenditures
- Represents UNP to senior leadership (government, military, and contractor), UNP universities, and other UNP stakeholders
- Helps facilitate UNP related meetings, reviews, and events
- Makes independent decisions with broad impacts to the program
- Aids contract management with universities
- Helps coordinate University NanoSatellite Program (UNP) events such as technical and programmatic reviews, educational workshops and program related meetings, briefings and events
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- 5-15 years of experience in a technical program environment
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and tasking
- Experience with mentoring, training, and team building
- Experience with communicating with various stakeholders
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Experience supporting US DoD technical R&D activities including familiarity with DoD computer systems and networks, working on military bases, and organization architecture
- Experience with event planning and public speaking
- Advanced degree in a technical field
- Demonstrated success completing a multi-year program/project lifecycle (proposing, executing, delivering, and closing) in the space domain
- $89,500-$140,500
- Salary commensurate based on education and experience
