Over 12 weeks, you’ll gain hands-on experience and broaden your perspective through a mid-summer rotation that introduces you to multiple areas of our business.  It’s your opportunity to build skills, make connections, and explore where actuarial science can take you.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Hourly Wage:
    • Undergraduate Actuarial Intern
      • One passed exam: $26
      • Two passed exams: $27
      • Three passed exams: $28
    • Graduate Actuarial Intern
      • One passed exam: $28
      • Two passed exams: $29
      • Three passed exams: $30

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Participate in projects as assigned. Assignments may be related to product development, morbidity and mortality tables, financial  results, premium persistency, expenses, or other matters as designated by managers.
  • Generate and verify data related to various exhibits and reports, applying actuarial and mathematical concepts, formulae, and computer capabilities as necessary for completion of duties.
  • Provide senior colleagues with documentation and explanations of computation results, and may research, analyze, and summarize material required by other actuarial personnel.
  • Prepare schedules of statistics, premiums, reserves, and benefits assigned, documenting and verifying factors used in the related computations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • An actuarial background in a related field, such as Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Economics and/or Computer Science.
  • An aptitude for statistical interpretation and a working knowledge of actuarial assumptions and formulae.
  • You are enrolled in a degree program related to actuarial science, math, statistics, data analytics, economics or other related fields both before and after the internship.
  • You have successfully completed one or more Society of Actuaries exam(s) via:
    • The University-Earned Credit (UEC) Program
    • Traditional exam setting
  • You possess an aptitude for statistical interpretation and a working knowledge of actuarial assumptions and formulae.
  • You promote a collaborative culture, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work at our office located in Omaha, NE, in an in-office environment with summer housing provided.
