Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Architectural Design provides primary leadership and expertise to various newbuild, revitalization and refurbishment projects. In collaboration with the Sr. Director, Architectural Design, this candidate is responsible for overseeing and managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.  

This role involves leading project teams, coordinating with architects and consultants, and providing strategic direction to achieve project goals. Actively manages ownership budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments. Estimates fees, determines the scope of work, and reviews proposals and contracts on complex projects. Provides oversight and mentoring for team members. May act in a team leader capacity in the absence of the Sr. Dir. of Architectural Design. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs, develops, and maintains entire overall design process for all assigned projects 
  • Independently oversees the coordination of work of a multidisciplinary team through multiple phases of a project 
  • Serves as the main liaison between the consultant and technical teams and the internal design, product and construction teams to provide guidance on project priorities through multiple phases to complete documents on schedule. 
  • Monitors the quality and suitability of consultants, ensuring that design goals are met, and provides guidance to ensure design is completed to target and brand vision. 
  • Engages with senior leadership in the development of long-range planning and objectives. 
  • Embraces the value of the design guidelines & standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references, taking the leadership that they are fulfilled within content of design drawings and specifications, and is ultimately accountable that the materials are delivered on a timely basis.   
  • Develops team resources (people, processes, tools) to manage large scale projects.  Independently plans, manages, guides design, and oversees projects, while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms, guiding the design they provide.  
  • Upholds SQM and guidelines throughout all design phases. Brings pro-activeness in creating new methods and processes for better executing the work.    
  • Leads presentations and project reports for Executive and leadership review.   
  • Creates planning models that support the organization's mission and values based on an internal and external needs assessment and monitors the external environment to identify opportunities required to execute the department's strategy.  
  • Track financial aspects of projects, coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule 
  • Communicates effectively with consultants and internal project team to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and deliver value added services. 
  • Manages internal stakeholder and consultant relationships. 
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion. 
  • Effectively communicates difficult/sensitive information and challenges, while proactively finding optimal solutions for the same 
  • Motivates project teams to effectively collaborate and is able to course correct to achieve project goals

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ten or more years of professional experience, professional degree in architecture from an accredited program, licensure preferred but not required. 
  • 8+ years of experience within cruise design industry preferred.  
  • Minimum of 10 years managing multi-million-dollar projects and managing high- performing teams. 
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Bluebeam, Photoshop
