General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management Department is accepting applications for a Housekeeping Equipment Repair Lead Technician. The shift is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with an altered schedule during the summer plus overtime or weekend hours when necessary.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and technical support for the Housekeeping Equipment Repair Department by coordinating and participating in the diagnosis, repair, preventive maintenance, installation, and replacement of housekeeping equipment and campus-installed dispensers, including paper towel, toilet paper, soap, and chemical dispensers.
• Prioritize daily work assignments, provide technical guidance to staff, coordinate vendor repairs, and ensure equipment and dispenser systems remain safe, reliable, and operational to support uninterrupted housekeeping services.
• Coordinate the inspection, assembly, delivery, and installation of new housekeeping equipment to ensure it is safe, operational, and ready for use.
• Provide leadership in maintaining accurate inventory records and maintenance documentation for housekeeping equipment, dispensers, repair parts, and related supplies to support efficient operations, accountability, and timely repairs
• Maintain accurate administrative records and support efficient shop operations by documenting work activities, recording time in AiM, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Ensure work orders are complete, accurate, and detailed to support maintenance tracking, accountability, and operational efficiency.
• Provide operational coverage in the absence of the supervisor by coordinating daily work activities, prioritizing assignments, and ensuring continuity of housekeeping equipment repair.
• Serve as a point of contact for staff issues, equipment priorities, and urgent operational needs to maintain uninterrupted service.
• Responds to snow and ice removal assignments and participates in weather-related emergency operations as needed.
• The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closing
